About the Author
One of America's prominent philosophers, academics, writers, and critics, Cornel West holds an Undergraduate Degree from Harvard University and a Ph.D from Princeton University. He is currently a Professor of African American Studies at Princeton and of Religious Philosophy and Christian Studies at Union Theological Seminary in New York.
West was active in Civil Rights demonstrations since he was in high school marching and staging organized protests and demanding black studies courses at his high school, where he was the class president. West achieved academic success at Harvard, graduating magna cum laude in Near East Languages and Civilization in 1973. West earned his Ph.D from Princeton in 1980. He is also the recipient of more than 20 honorary degrees.
Though critics have charge him with opportunism, crass showmanship, and lack of scholarly seriousness, West remains one of the most widely cited scholars in the popular press.
